At this difficult time for our country and the world in general, it is understandable that horseracing will not be to the forefront of your mind. We just wanted to update you on the situation at Roscommon Racecourse at the present time.
As you may already be aware Horse Racing Ireland (HRI) announced last month that racing in Ireland has ceased as of midnight on 24 March as per Government guidelines on Covid-19.
As Nick Hartley, the Chairman of HRI said in a statement last week ” We have stressed throughout that Government and HSE guidelines around fighting Covid-19 must come first and racing will only be able to resume when the Government guidelines permit and when there is adequate medical cover in place to ensure that race meetings can be staged safely. No-one can predict when this point will be reached. “
A number of scenarios are under discussion for when racing does resume with the first month likely to be flat racing only. The calendar, and therefore our fixtures, will be updated at that time. The latest HRI updates can be found here
We urge everyone to follow all Government and HSE guidelines in order to stop the spread of Coronavirus and ultimately save lives. We want to assure you that Roscommon Racecourse is in compliance with these.
We wish all our customers, sponsors & stakeholders the best during this challenging time and hopefully, every week that passes will bring us closer to the return of racing at Roscommon Racecourse.
If we can be of any assistance please do not hesitate to contact us.
